If you are sending a large but lightweight parcel you may be charged on volumetric weight rather than actual weight. DHL Ship Now calculates volumetric weight automatically from the parcel dimensions you enter on the booking form. If the volumetric weight of your parcel is greater than the actual weight, this will be shown as the weight used to calculate the price.

The formula for calculating the volumetric weight for shipments sent outside of Ireland is length x width x height (centimeters) / 5000 = volumetric weight in kilograms.

All shipments sent outside of Ireland are sent by DHL Time Definite Air Express services. These services are ideal for smaller, urgent items and we can accept parcels up to 60cm x 50cm x 50cm in size and 25kg in weight for each individual piece. Because the shipments are sent by air we cannot accept anything classed as hazardous, flammable or fragile. This can include everyday items such as car parts, aerosols, perfumes, lithium batteries and many medicines. For security reasons DHL cannot transport cash, jewelry, activated credit cards and lottery tickets amongst other items. All items must also comply with the laws of every country they travel through en route.

Note: Most items shipped outside the EU, other than documents and small gifts, may be subject to import duty and tax for which the recipient is liable.

All items must be packed appropriately for shipping and original shipping cartons or equivalents are recommended. For more information on packing shipments please visit our Packaging Advice section. DHL couriers cannot provide packing material and it is the responsibility of the sender to ensure all items are packed appropriately. Remember to leave your parcel unsealed so the courier can perform a security check on the contents and note that all shipments are carried at ambient temperatures.

It is strongly recommended that the ShipNow insurance option is taken for all goods valued at over €100 in replacement cost, as it is not possible to arrange insurance for consequential loss through DHL. All computers and other items with electronic storage devices should be backed up before shipping.

For values up to €100 payment may be made by cash or cheque directly to the courier when he arrives to collect your shipment. If paying by cheque please write the Cheque Guarantee Card Number on the reverse.

For all values in excess of €100, or as an alternative for all lower values, payment can be made by Visa or MasterCard. We regret that we cannot currently accept Laser Cards or American Express.

If the page crashed before or during payment screens, and before you receive confirmation of payment, then the booking details will not have been sent to our systems. In this case you will need to go back to the beginning and enter your shipment details again.

If the page crashed after making a successful payment, it is likely that the booking entered our systems correctly and the booking reference should be displayed at the bottom of your Shipment Receipt as a Pickup Confirmation Nr.

Once your shipment has been scanned on arrival into a DHL depot you can track its progress via the 10 digit Airwaybill (AWB). For more information please check our Tracking section

DHL transit times are provided as a guide only and include normal local working days only. There may be circumstances beyond DHL's control where shipments are delayed. These include local holidays, customs inspections and weather or other transport delays.

DHL assumes no liability for the damages or losses caused by delayed shipments.

When entering the Sender Details please use the name of the nearest town or city area as the Town name and select the County from the drop down list. If the Town name entered is not recognised please click on 'Finder' in the red warning box and check the alphabetical list of Irish towns and districts for the one closest to you. The Street Name and Number is entered in the European format with the number in the box after the name.

Note: ShipNow can only prepare shipments and arrange collections from addresses in Ireland.

When entering Delivery Details for shipments going outside Ireland please ensure that you have the correct post code or zip code and the system will check the City Name for you (and State if going to the USA).

For UK addresses please enter only the first part of the postcode and select the Town or Area name from the 'Select Post Code' drop down list that appears. If the Post Code or Town name entered is not recognised please click on 'Finder' in the red warning box and check the alphabetical list of towns and cities in the destination country.

You can print your label as many times as necessary. If you are sending a number of separate pieces or parcels together as a single shipment please put a copy of the label and write the Air waybill number on each one. If you are sending multiple shipments to different destinations, be sure to affix the labels to the correct parcel. Please note that you cannot use a label more than once!

You should print a single Shipment Receipt for each shipment to summarise the contents and show it to the courier on collection. It may then be kept for your own records.

The Payment Receipt contains your Collection Pickup Reference Number, the Payment Transaction Number and acts as a VAT Receipt. A single copy should be printed and retained for your records.

A Proforma or Commercial Invoice should be printed for all shipments (other than documents or small gifts) sent outside the EU. A copy should be attached to each separate piece or parcel.

Note: The courier can provide you with adhesive window envelopes for attaching your documents to the shipment. Remember to leave the shipment packaging open so the courier can perform a security check on the contents.

A pop-up is a small web browser window that appears on top of the website you're viewing. DHL ShipNow uses pop-up windows to process both your shipment and your credit card payment. As pop-ups are often used by advertising sites they are usually blocked by Internet Explorer and other web browsers by default.

To use DHL Ship Now you must allow pop-ups from two web sites, notably, dhlshipnow.dhl.com for shipping and docdatapayments.com for credit card processing. Allowing pop-ups for these sites only takes a few seconds and will not affect your internet security.

The process of allowing pop-up’s is simple, but equally dependant upon the specific type of web browser you are using (e.g. Internet Explorer). If you are using a PC in work, please ask your IT Department for advice. If you are at home using Internet Explorer, click on the “Tools” option and from the dropdown options select “Pop-up Blocker”. From here select “Turn Off Pop-up Blocker”. Alternatively, to permanently allow pop-ups from DHL ShipNow, select “Pop-up Blocker Settings” via Tools > Pop-up Blocker and add https://dhlshipnow.dhl.com and https://www.docdatapayments.com/en/ as pop-up exception sites.

When using Google or Yahoo! toolbars in your web browser, disabling the pop-up blocker is easily achieved by selecting the appropriate toolbar button.

ShipNow uses HTTPS, an internet standard communication protocol, which uses Secure Socket Layer (SSL). This is an industry-standard encryption technology, which protects your information as it is transmitted over the internet. All credit card payments are handled by Doc Data Payments (Triple Deal) on behalf of DHL. Verified by Visa/MasterCard security is employed and you will be asked to register a password to use this.
