DHL Express launches next day delivery service to the USA
From Monday 5th July DHL will operate a new flight from Dublin providing enhanced transatlantic services with 24 hour express delivery from Ireland to the USA and Canada. The new next day delivery service, to the USA, will reduce the time it currently takes to deliver packages to the USA from Ireland by utilising DHL’s enhanced intercontinental air network. This latest investment in the DHL Express Ireland business further strengthens DHL’s position as the world’s leading international express delivery company and underlines the importance of the Ireland-USA trade-lane to the DHL network.
With this improved service, 90% of all business addresses in the USA are now covered on a next day basis from Ireland. DHL has five international gateways strategically located in the US, each with its own customs clearance facilities. Shipments from Ireland will pass through the Cincinnati, Ohio gateway, which provides connection within one hour’s flight time to 60% of the USA’s manufacturing and population. The Cincinnati gateway, which is DHL’s main hub in the USA, has a sort capacity of 250,000 pieces and 1 million kgs per night. This fully state-of-the-art facility which is ISO 9001 certified also hosts the DHL Quality Control Centre for the Americas.
Quality of service is a key focus for DHL and with 99% of low-value inbound shipments clearing customs prior to arrival at the USA gateway; it ensures the quickest possible delivery time for customers.
John Whelan, Chief Executive of the Irish Exporters Association said: "The USA is the number one market by sales value for Irish merchandise exports and is clearly a key destination for Irish exporters. This enhanced service from DHL Express is very positive news and underlines the importance of the Ireland-USA trade lane to DHL Express."
Mike Farrell, Operations Director, DHL Express Ireland, said: "Competition for USA business between Irish exporters and other international companies is strong, so having access to a reliable next day delivery service to this key market now allows Irish businesses to compete on an equal basis. We are therefore delighted to introduce this new flight which reinforces the importance of this trade lane."
"By continually investing in our network DHL Express is reinforcing our commitment to the Irish market and underlines our position as the provider of choice for international air express services from Ireland."
